Faculty of Earth and Energy Technology Universitas Trisakti Inaugurates New Study Program, Master of Geological Engineering
The Faculty of Earth and Energy Technology (FTKE) on Saturday, November 18, 2023, inaugurates a new study program, Master of Geological Engineering. Took place in D Building, 5th floor, Campus A Universitas Trisakti, the inauguration of the 5th of the study program under FTKE not only attended by the leader of Universitas Trisakti and FTKE but also various partners from the National Oil and Gas Industry, both by online and offline. The event opened with the reading of a Decree from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology regarding Permits to Open the Geological Engineering Master’s Study Program by the Head of the Geological Engineering Master’s Study Program (Kaprodi), Dr. Ir. Benjamin, M.T.
After that, the Dean of FTKE, Dr. Ir. M. Burhannudinnur, M.S.C., IPU gave his speech starting by telling the history of the formation of the Master of Geological Engineering Study Program. Burhannudinnur revealed that the process of establishing the Geological Engineering Masters Study Program had gone through a long process and almost 20 years of waiting. According to Burhannudinnur, several obstacles meant that the long-standing dream of building a Geological Engineering Master’s Study Program was always canceled.
“The struggle to open this study program started in 2004. There are many obstacles, especially where this study program will go in the future. Apart from that, legal problems also make it impossible to accommodate the management of new study programs. Thankfully, after the management of the new Foundation, everything can start running,” explained Dr. Ir. M. Burhannudinnur, M.S.c., IPU.
Mr. Dr. Ir. M. Burhannudinnur, M.S.c., IPU at the end explained the advantages of the Masters in Geological Engineering lectures can be held in a hybrid, online, or offline manner depending on the student’s wishes. He also asked for input from all parties so that in the future the Geological Engineering Masters Study Program can continue to be sustainable and become much better.
The event then continued with a speech from Vice-Rector IV, Prof. Dr. drg. Tri Erri Astoeti, M.Kes who represent the Rector, cutting the yellow rice and closed with messages from invited guess from the industrial world, including Fernando Pasaribu (Vice President Exploitation PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy), Adi Maryono (The Director of PT J Resources Asia Pacific), STJ Budi Santoso (Head of Ikatan Ahli Geologi Indonesia), Raden Ajeng Sondaryani (Head of Ikatan Alumni FTKE), Junita Musu (LEMIGAS), and Widyawan Prawira Atmaja (SBM ITB).
The process of establishing a Master’s in Geological Engineering at Trisakti University began with holding a Focus Group Discussion in January 2023 involving various parties. After that, on August 31, 2023, a decree from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology was officially issued then on October 9, 2023, the Head and Secretary of the Geological Engineering Master’s Study Program were appointed. Trisakti University Geological Engineering Master’s Study Program has uniqueness and excellence in the field of Urban Geology and Energy with four concentrations: Oil and Gas and Coal Geology (GMB), Green and Non-Conventional Energy (GENKE), Infrastructure and Disasters (ISB) and Mineral Resources Geology (GSDM).
The aim of the Geological Engineering Master’s Study Program is to produce graduates who have competence in developing quality knowledge and understanding, intellectual, practical, and managerial related to the field of geological engineering (continuous quality improvement) and are able to compete at national and international levels.
