The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo just inaugurated a big mega project Cirata Floating Solar Power Plant at Purwakarta, West Java on Thursday, November 9, 2023. A floating PLTS Cirata which is a collaboration project between PT PLN (Persero) by their subholding, PLN Nusantara Power with a company from the United Arab Emirates (UEA), Masdar has been going on for three years using 1.400 workers from three districts, Purwakarta, Cianjur and West Bandung. According to President Jokowi, PLTS Cirata is the largest in Southeast Asia and the third largest in the world.

The proudest moment is, that one of the experts involved in this National Strategic Project (PSN) is an alumnus from Universitas Trisakti, Erwin Rezaputra. Erwin is an alumnus of the Electrical Engineering Study Program, at the Faculty of Industrial Technology Universitas Trisakti. Before being involved in the Cirata Floating PLTS Project, Erwin who currently worked as an Electrical Engineer at TRACTEBEL, was also a Senior Project Manager at PT. Schneider Indonesia and Senior Site Manager at Hitachi ABB Power Grids. His 25 years of experience in Electrical Power Transmission and Distribution brings Erwin to be involved in the 192 MWp Cirata Floating PLTS Project.

The Cirata Floating PLTS itself was built on Cirata Reservoir covering an area of 200 hectares and located in three districts Purwakarta, Cianjur, and West Bandung. With a total of capacity 145 MW AC or equal to 192 MWp, and consisting of 13 islands with a total covers of Solar Panel about 130 hectares, the electricity will transmitted to the PLN substation at 150 thousand volts and flow to the region of Java, Madura, to Bali and can be consumed for industries up to 50 thousand of the household. The Cirata Floating PLTS will also contribute to the addition of the New Renewable Energy (EBT) mix and be a showcase for global cooperation to realize emissions reductions in accelerating the energy transition towards Net Zero Emissions (NZE) in 2060.
