On Saturday and Sunday, November 18-19, 2023, a Marching Band competition that involved participants from kindergarten until high school was held at Campus A, Universitas Trisakti. This event was held in collaboration between Universitas Trisakti with Federasi Youth Band Indonesia (FYBI) West Jakarta and gained interest from many schools around the West Jakarta area.

Vice Rector III Universitas Trisakti, Yoska Oktavianto, ST., MT., at the opening of the event, said that the Marching Band really meaningful in the education world because this activity contains a lot of philosophy on self-character building.

Mr. Yoska also said “By joining a marching band, we are required to be disciplined, able to work together in a team, able to produce harmonious rhythms, obey commands, and actively create movement and sound creations. Universitas Trisakti also has the UKM Drum Corps Trisakti which has participated in many competitions and achieved several achievements.”

The opening which was marked by the beating of a gong by Mr. Yoska, was greeted enthusiastically by participants from 24 schools around the West Jakarta area. The Category of the competition includes Concert and Parade, Individual Pianika and Brass, individual Colour Guard, and Color Guard Contest. The participants judge by some criteria like movement precision, musical harmony, visual skills, and overall performances.

In this activity also participates many children from Universitas Trisakti alumni in this competition and it became a place for friendship. This event provides valuable experience for participants in improving their skills in marching band. Congratulations to the winners!
